2010 Stanley Cup Final Schedule. The National Hockey League announced today the schedule for the 2010 Stanley Cup Final between the Western Conference champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia Flyers.

The National Hockey League announced today the schedule for the 2010 Stanley Cup Final between the Western Conference champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia Flyers.

Based on their superior regular-season performance, the Blackhawks will host Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, as well as Games 5 and 6, if necessary. Games Three and Four will be in Philadelphia, as well as Game 6, if necessary.

NBC will telecast Games 1 and 2 and, if necessary, Games 5 through 7 of the best-of-seven series in the U.S., while VERSUS will broadcast Games 3 and 4. In Canada, CBC and RDS will provide coverage for the entire series. All games also will be carried on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

NHL Network, the League’s 24-hour, all-access pass to the most comprehensive hockey coverage, will feature special programming surrounding the Stanley Cup Final. NHL.com will continue to provide extensive digital coverage.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN: The Cavs have an opportunity to close out the Bulls tonight. Expect that to happen.

Teams don’t want to prolong the series. If the Cavs win tonight, they’d probably be off until Sunday for Game 1 of the East semifinals. Boston can also close out the Miami Heat tonight.

Bulls guard Derrick Rose had an MRI on his left ankle on Monday. He’ll play, but he might not be as explosive. No one will know until the teams get out on the court.

Forward Luol Deng, who’s had to defend LeBron James in the series, is also not 100 percent. He’s is suffering from calf and knee injuries. He was held out of practice on Monday, along with Rose.

The 6-9 Deng has made James work, but the latter is averaging 35 points, 9.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists. That’s not bad in the Painesville rec league, no less the NBA.

The Cavs have made an average of 11 3-pointers in the first four games of the series in 26 attempts. GM Danny Ferry has surrounded James with 3-point shooters in Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon and others. When they are on their game, they are unbeatable.

Howard signs contract extension

PBR - The Phillies signed first baseman Ryan Howard to a five-year contract extension Monday, the team said in a release.

The deal guarantees Howard $125 million over five years and could reach $138 million in six years, according to the Phillies. The contract could keep Howard with the Phillies through 2017.

The extension will pay Howard $20 million in each of 2012 and 2013 and $25 per season from 2014 through 2016. The club option is worth $23 million with a $10 million buyout.

The extension also has a limited no-trade provision.

Howard, 30, is hitting .275 with three home runs and 16 RBI for the Phillies. He’s won the Rookie of the Year and NL MVP awards during his career. He’s a two-time All-Star.
