Michael Schumacher is set to return to Formula One after signing with Mercedes GP for the 2010 F1 season. Yes, in case you didn’t know yet, he’s coming back and he won’t be driving for Ferrari no more. Instead, he’ll compete for Ferrari’s rivals from Mercedes after a three-year sabbatical.

Can Michael Schumacher recapture the greatness he once had after three years being away from the sport? If you’ve been following F1 for quite some time, then you should know by now that betting against a guy like Michael Schumacher is a bad idea. As far as him winning another title at 41 years old is concerned, Jarno Trulli believes Schumi can do that too.

”Why not? Being 41 is not a problem; age is just a number. He’s still in very good shape, and physically and mentally I don’t think he’s going to have any problems,” Jarno Trulli said in an interview with Crash.net Radio.

”I think the only trouble he will find is returning to racing after three years, it’s not that easy to get back into the same rhythm in Formula 1. I think it will take him some races before he can really begin to attack again, but that is the only issue I can see him facing.”

Like Schumi, Jarno Trulli will also be driving for another team. You see, Toyota is no longer competing in Formula One, forcing Trulli to move to a new player this season, Lotus.

”We have to be realistic,” Trulli said. ”It’s going to be a tough season, and to begin…”

Tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET at the Clubhouse at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida, golfer Tiger Woods will be kicking off the 2010 Tiger Woods Mea Culpa Tour.

Already generating the kind of buzz only befitting perhaps the world’s greatest golfer and philanderer of our time, the Tiger Woods 2010 Mea Culpa Tour is also scheduled to stop at The TODAY Show (co-host Matt Lauer is an avid golfer) and on Oprah Winfrey’s couch — and no doubt at several major upcoming PGA tournaments. (The Master’s begins just after Easter. Watch Tiger rise up and ascend to golfing heaven!)

Interestingly, according to National Enquirer executive editor Barry Levine (as reported on ESPN’s E:60), the whole Tiger Woods mistress story was almost a non-story. Almost. As we all know what eventually happened. (Fore!)

Me, I don’t really care about Tiger. Yeah, I’m a bit disappointed that the image was far from the reality. But that’s the problem with our celebrity- and athlete-worshiping culture. We forget that celebrities are just actors and athletes are not heroes. They are just people who are really good at what they do — and happen to get a lot of press coverage.

I just hope that Tiger’s little coming out party won’t hurt sales of the Tiger Woods Mistress Commemorative Plate Collection. (Order your set today! Supplies are limited!)

It seems Kobe Bryant is having some injury issues at the midway point of the 2010 NBA basketball season. In case you haven’t noticed it yet, Kobe hasn’t been seeing action lately, all thanks to this sore ankle he has been nursing.

Yes, Kobe Bryant missed his fifth consecutive game with an ankle injury, missing out on their rematch with their rivals Boston Celtics, at the Staples Center last Thursday night.

He did not play against the Golden State Warriors though they won the game 104 - 94 with huge help from other Laker guard Shannon Brown. Brown had his best game of his career, who paced the Lakers with 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Los Angeles Lakers improved to 4-0 before losing to the Celtics since Bryant pulled himself out of the lineup with a high sprain in his left ankle. Because Danica Patrick will be making her NASCAR debut this weekend at the Daytona International Speedway for Daytona 500. Fresh off a pretty impressive sixth-place finish last week on the same track in an ARCA race, Patrick decided it’s time to make the move to NASCAR and what better to do it than on NASCAR’s grandest stage, Daytona.

”Racing in the Nationwide Series race was my goal during this entire two-month preparation process, but we wanted to make sure it was the right thing to do,” Danica Patrick said in a statement. ”The ARCA race was a blast, and I’m not ready for my first Daytona Speedweeks to end just yet. I want more racing.”

Patrick was originally scheduled to debut on Feb. 20 at the Nationwide race in California, but that’s been bumped up to the 2010 NASCAR season opener at Daytona because she felt so comfortable in the ARCA race. She started 12th in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 and finished sixth, including a late rally from 23rd position all the way to the front pack in just under 20 laps.

Crew chief Tony Eury Jr., who initially was against Patrick beginning her limited Nationwide schedule at Daytona, didn’t hesitate to give a yes vote after the ARCA event.
